  • Christmas Parade

Make plans to attend the 2019 Downtown Christmas Parade, presented by The Burtis Motor Company, on Sunday, December 8th beginning at 6:00 p.m.

This fun filled spectacular event will delight everyone and fill your heart with holiday spirit. Marching bands, school groups, church groups, and many more help to spread seasonal cheer with their brightly decorated holiday floats. This year’s parade theme is “Holiday Movie Classics!”

*Please note that vehicle parking along Main St. is prohibited the evening of the parade.  All vehicles found parked on Main St. prior to the parade will be towed at the owner’s expense.

If you wish to have a float in the parade, applications are available at our office at 120 E. Laurel St.  We do have a cap for the number of floats in the parade due to the logistics of a night time parade. Parade float staging begins at 4:30 p.m. and we ask that all floats arrive no later than 5:40 p.m. (The earlier the better!).  Floats will be lined up on a first-come basis.

We ask that all floats please enter from Maple & Santa Fe to north on 4th for staging. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter off of Main St. onto Depot Road.  Entry from Fulton onto 5th, 6th and 7th streets are also prohibited.

Please remember that it will be dark in the staging around the beginning of the parade start time (6 p.m.).  Please be cautious of individuals walking around the vehicles as we will have young kids and students in the area the entire time.

The Garden City Police Department prohibits anyone from throwing candy from any type of moving vehicle along the parade route.  This rule applies to passengers on the back of floats/trailers, passengers inside vehicles and vehicle drivers.  Candy may only be given out by individuals walking the parade route.

If your float has live animals, you are required by the City of Garden City to clean up any mess made by your pet(s) during the staging process as well as along the parade route.
