The Decision to Acquire Kinney Glass
Before delving into the world of glass, Nicole and her husband entrench themselves in the world of business. Nicole, with a background in Economic Development. Her husband a former store manager for United Wireless, felt the desire to break free from the constraints of a conventional 9 to 5 job. The opportunity to acquire the business arose organically. The former owners expressed their desire to retire, presenting the Hahns with a chance to venture into business ownership.
The decision to maintain the Kinney Glass legacy by keeping the original name was driven by the business’s long-standing reputation. Kinney Glass was established in 1963 by Bill & Carolyn Kinney. The business was purchased by Curt and Kathy Kinney in 2003. Nicole explains that the former owners, Curt and Kathy, were acquaintances from her involvement in Downtown Vision. The transition of ownership was a smooth process with Curt expressing his readiness to sell.
The Responsibility of Business Ownership
Owning a business comes with its set of challenges and joys. Nicole, serving as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), values the autonomy that comes with being a business owner. The flexibility to manage time and attend to personal commitments is a definite plus. However, the responsibility of managing eight employees and ensuring the smooth operation of the business adds a layer of complexity to their roles.
