"The Sunflower Field II"

"Bandshell at Steven's Park"

Message from the artist

"First, I would like to say that this is my fourth year participating in this great project. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Fort Hays State University. Since then, I have continued to create many different types of art.

I love to paint the outdoors because it helps me relax and increase my creativity. This year, I decided to paint a beautiful sunflower field representing a natural landmark from Garden City, where I live. I can be in any part of the world, and if I see a sunflower, it reminds me of Garden City, a place that holds so many special memories for me.

The second image is the bandshell located at Steven’s Park, which I believe is one of the most important landmarks that represent Garden City. One of my favorite mediums is acrylic paint because it dries very fast. The fast-drying time gives me the chance to use many layers of paint, creating fascinating effects."
