A new venture has sprung to life, founded on the solid foundation of a remarkable working relationship. Salon 115, co-owned by Bethany Gonzalez and Jonathan Orona, is the culmination of their combined 26 years of experience in the beauty industry. Together, they have crafted a unique space that embodies their shared vision and expertise, offering a fresh, inclusive approach to salon and barbershop services. Their partnership is not just professional but a synergy of talents and passions, promising to make Salon 115 a standout destination in the community.
Bethany’s Journey

Bethany Gonzalez’s path to co-owning Salon 115 began in 2009. With a career that spans various cities—Kansas City, Chicago, and San Antonio—Bethany has accumulated a wealth of experience. She always knew she had a passion for the beauty industry, but it wasn’t until later in life that she could fully pursue it. Her early years were spent doing makeup and hair for friends and events, gradually building her skills and confidence.
“I love my makeover clients,” Bethany shares. “Starting with a clean canvas and transforming someone through a good consultation, cut, color, or makeup is incredibly rewarding. Watching their reaction to the final product, often one they didn’t expect, is my favorite part of the job.”
Jonathan’s Path to Cosmetology

Jonathan Orona’s journey to Salon 115 was equally unconventional. Initially on a business path, Jonathan was inspired by a friend to explore cosmetology. Despite initial doubts, he soon found his calling. “The vibe at cosmetology school was infectious,” he recalls. “Eleven years later, I’m still here.”
After graduating, Jonathan worked at a JCPenney salon, which offered a high volume of clients and invaluable experience. He later became a color educator, traveling extensively to teach and train others. His work took him to California, Vegas, and beyond, broadening his horizons and deepening his passion for the industry.
The Birth of Salon 115

The partnership between Bethany and Jonathan began seven years ago in Ulysses, Kansas. Jonathan had just moved back to Ulysses and was job searching when he met Bethany at a local salon. Their professional chemistry was immediate. “We just clicked,” Bethany says. “We complement each other perfectly.”
Their vision for Salon 115 is ambitious yet grounded. They aim to create a space that balances masculine and feminine aesthetics, catering to everyone from men and women to couples. “We want a place where a couple can feel comfortable,” Bethany explains. “Maybe she gets her hair done while he has a drink and waits for his turn.”
Future Aspirations
Both Bethany and Jonathan have clear aspirations for Salon 115. They envision it as a top-tier salon and barbershop hybrid, offering services like haircuts, coloring, extensions, facials, body scrubs, and soon, nail services and spray tans. They emphasize staying ahead of industry trends to provide the best for their clients.
For Jonathan, one standout moment in his career was realizing the vast opportunities beyond traditional hairstyling. “Being in California for color educator training, sitting by the beach, made me reflect on how far I’ve come,” he says. “This industry offers so much more than just cutting hair.” He would like to showcase this to our community and he feels like Salon 115 could be a way of doing that.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Bethany and Jonathan encourage aspiring business owners to take the plunge. “Just do it,” they advise. “If you have a good business plan and a solid opportunity, take the risk. You never know what you can achieve until you try.”
Salon 115 is more than just a business for Bethany Gonzalez and Jonathan Orona; it’s a culmination of years of hard work, passion, and a shared vision. With their combined talents and relentless drive, they are set to make Salon 115 a cornerstone of the Garden City community, where everyone feels welcome and valued.
